The SGC Lady Hornets overcome a slow scoring first half to defeat Lexington 5-0. Aly Goodman got the scoring started after winning a goal kick from the Lexington keeper, beating 2 defenders and placing the ball off the post into the net. SGC dominated possession the entire half, creating scoring chances but could not find the back of the net.
The Lady Hornets didn’t wait long to push through in the second half. After earning a foul, Ella Piercey drove a free kick from about 25 yards into the net. SGC continued to control possession most of the second half with Lexington gaining chances occasionally. The Lady Hornets continued to push though, and Lexington finally broke allowing goals by Goodman, Brynlee Butler, and Tetteybea Addo late in the half.
The Hornet defense outclassed the Lexington offense sniffing out any offensive chances. Lexington was able to creat one shot on goal, and Keeper Sadie Nelson was able to handle it easily.
